The underground scope on your solar job

Apex is the underground sub for solar EPCs, developers and electrical contractors. We bore and trench the conduit that ties arrays, carports, battery storage and EV chargers back to the switchgear and the utility, under live parking lots and finished landscaping.

Who we work for

Built for the people who build solar

Solar EPCs & Installers

Hand us the underground package so your crews stay on racking, modules and terminations.

Developers & PPA Providers

A fixed scope from one licensed sub, priced from your plan set before you lock the budget.

Electrical Contractors

We set and prove the conduit. You pull wire. Depth, bends and stub-ups match your drawings.

Ag & Commercial Owners

Ground mounts across fields, canopies over parking, storage next to the service. We keep the site running while we work.

Scope we self-perform

Array to switchgear to the utility

  • DC & AC collection conduit HDD

Long bores under drive aisles, parking fields, roads and landscaping between arrays, inverters and switchgear. No saw cutting and no repaving.

  • Carport & canopy feeds HDD · Trench

Runs between canopy columns, with sweeps and stub-ups set at the footings to your electrical drawings.

  • Battery storage (BESS) HDD · Trench

Feeders and comms conduit to battery cabinets and containers, including pad prep tie-ins and grounding trench.

  • Utility interconnection PG&E OQ

Applicant-side trench, conduit and vault work to the point of interconnection, built to the PG&E construction sketch.

  • EV charger conduit HDD

Feeds to Level 2 and DC fast chargers, often on the same mobilization as the solar carport.

  • HDPE fusion & conduit bundles Fusion

Butt-fused HDPE and multi-duct bundles for long pulls with fewer joints in the ground.

  • Hydrovac potholing Locate

Daylighting existing utilities at every crossing before the drill goes under them.

  • Fiber, SCADA & monitoring HDD

Low-voltage and fiber conduit for metering, monitoring and site controls.

Drill fleet

Nine rigs, 8,000 to 60,000 lb class

Apex and our partner crews run compact drills for tight carport rows and all-terrain rock drills for long runs to the point of interconnection. We match the rig to the bore length, conduit bundle and ground conditions.

Recent project

Office campus solar carports, EV charging & battery storage

Location
Tri-Valley, East Bay
Completed
November 2025
Site
Occupied office campus. Parking stayed open throughout.
Scope
HDD conduit between carport rows, battery cabinets and EV chargers. Hydrovac potholing, column stub-ups, HDPE pulls and conduit tie-ins.

Bores ran under drive aisles, landscape islands and finished lawn, so the campus never lost a parking row to an open trench.

Why bore it

Solar sites are already built

Carports go over parking that people use every day. Ground mounts go across fields with irrigation, drainage and existing services. Boring keeps the conduit route off the surface.

Open trench

  • Saw cut, haul off, backfill, compact, repave
  • Parking rows closed for days
  • Landscaping and irrigation torn out

Directional bore

  • Entry and exit pits only
  • Lot stays open around the rig
  • Depth tracked the whole length of the bore

How we work with your team

From plan set to pulled conduit

  1. Takeoff

Send the site plan and electrical sheets. We return bore and trench footage by run, conduit size and count, with a price.

  2. Locate & pothole

USA 811 ticket, then hydrovac at every crossing so the bore path is verified before we drill.

  3. Bore & pull

Pilot bore, ream and pullback to the depth on your drawings. Sweeps and stub-ups set where you need them.

  4. Turn over

Conduit mandreled with pull rope in place, plus bore logs and as-built footage for your closeout package.
